Book Review | The Friend by Dorothy Koomson | prettylittlewriter

This week's book review is none other than Dorothy Koomson's, The Friend.
This novel follows the lives of multiple women, including main protagonist, Cece, and her quest to find out the truth hidden within the lies of her new friends in Brighton.
Initially, I found this book very difficult to keep up with as there are so many different characters with many different story lines. But each character had such depth, it made me want to carry on reading to find out exactly what had happened to them all.

I felt so much empathy for each of them, even having to stop and put the book down for a little while as some of the issues they faced really made me feel for them.

The twist at the end was brilliant; I never imagined the culprit to be who it really was.

Koomson is just astounding. She truly has a gift when it comes to writing, and I cannot wait to read more of her books soon!

I don't want to say too much about this book as it really has to be read to have such an impact on you.
All I will say is I 100% recommend it, and even if you struggle at the start, keep going, it's totally worth it.

4/5 stars
