Woodland Girl; A Poem | prettylittlewriter

Recently, I've been going through my old stories, lyrics and poetry I have saved on my laptop from over the past few years. Most of which are from my teenage years.

I came across this poem that I wrote back in 2010 when I was sixteen. I'd never been one for poetry, as I often found poems weren't long enough for the kind of stories I wanted to tell.

I thought I'd share it with you however, as I actually quite like this one, and I would love my readers feedback! So please, have a read and leave any comments you have!

A girl stood lonely in the wood,
tears streaming from her eyes.
She didn't know she'd cause a flood,
and destroy many lives.

She thought she’d make it,
but she’d thought wrong,
so she found a place to sit,
to sing the saddest song.

Night came thick and fast,
so she got to her feet,
whilst thinking of the past,
and the people she was unfortunate to meet.

'God, please help me,
save me from this pain,
I’d like a place where I can see,
and figure out my aim.'

She staggered home through the night,
where she found her Mother on the porch,
she put her arms around her tight,
and thought happy thoughts.

Christmas Tree Hunt | prettylittlewriter

One thing I have never been able to do at Christmas is pick my own real Christmas tree. My parents have always had a fake one, which isn't a bad thing, there are some very good things about have a fake tree, including the fact that you can re-use it year on year.
However, this year I am in my own place with my own living room, which means I could finally pick my own tree!

I went to a lovely place called Cotley farm down here in Devon with my niece and her little family. They had lots of animals for my great-nephew to fawn over, including BABY REiNDEERS, and the staff were incredibly helpful when it came to picking my tree.
I literally had no idea what I was doing or how to choose one, so it was great to have someone at hand who knew one or two things about choosing the right tree.

I had the best time spending the day with my family,
and I cannot wait to decorate the tree!

A Walk In The Woods | prettylittlewriter

Having moved from Scunthorpe down to the beautiful countryside of Devon, I thought it was about time I did some exploring of this wonderful county.

I decided to go for a stroll through our local woods and take a few photographs of things I found wonderful or interesting.

The walk to the woods is so pretty, seeing all the different colours and looking out over the houses, it truly is lovely.

I really liked the way the trees form a cover here, and when the leaves have turned a lot more for Autumn, I think this will be a beautiful spot.

 A possible man-made shelter?

I found where the fairies live!

Spotted this little guy up in one of the trees. He was making a really loud and strange noise, I thought he was a bird at first! Once I got home I did a bit of research and the noise was him warning me to back away from his territory. Sorry little man!

This is the prettiest tree I have ever seen. The colours are absolutely stunning; I still find it hard to believe nature can be this colourful and beautiful.

Going for this walk has made me crave more exploration of this gorgeous county. I cannot wait to find somewhere else to admire!
