Halloween | Glam Witch Make Up | prettylittlewriter

As Halloween is fast approaching, I became incredibly excited to start experimenting with different make up looks for different costumes.
The first I decided to try out was a Witch.

The products I used; Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Glastonberry, HD Brows palette in Vamp, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in two shades, Collection Extreme 24hr Felt Tip Liner, Mac So Sweet So Easy Cremeblend Blush, Front Cover Eye Palette, Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation in NC15, The Body Shop InstaBlur Primer & Guerlain Teracotta Moisturising Bronzing Powder.
I chose to use a pale foundation that perfectly matches my skin tone as I thought the dramatic effect of the lipstick and eye shadow would look best against a pale canvas.
I used this Collection Extreme Liner to draw symmetrical sections onto my eyelids for the eye shadow to be applied to.
Charlotte Tilbury's Glastonberry lipstick seemed an appropriate choice as the pigmentation is great, it has long lasting coverage and is a gorgeous dark purple, and Witches are often seen wearing purple.
I used this as a base for my foundation as I want something that will keep the make up on my face and prevent it from fading throughout the night.
These are the four shades I used for eye shadow, unfortunately, the Front Cover palette I got these from was discontinued so it is quite difficult to find. They are however, available on Ebay. The shades from left to right are; Bright Aqua, Tarn Green, Twinkling Grape & See The Stars.

For the eyes, I began with the Collection Felt Tip Liner to create an outer wing in which the eye shadow would sit. Then I applied the Tarn Green shade all over my eyelid and into the shaped wing. Once both lids were done, I blended the See The Stars shade into the outer creases and the wing to create a dark, smoky effect. I then added Twinkling Grape to the outer creases just to add a little extra glitter and colour to the smoky eye. After that, I applied a small amount of the Bright Aqua to the inner creases and blended it in. I also applied Tarn Green & See The Stars to my lower lash line.

I will be pairing this make up look with a glamorous sparkly dress and this witches hat!

So there is my first Halloween make up look, a Glamorous Green Glittery Witch! I hope you like this look, and keep an eye out for some other Halloween make up ideas in the near future!

Top 5 Tuesday | Nail Polish | prettylittlewriter

For this week's Top 5 Tuesday, I thought I'd show you my current favourite Nail Polishes.

From left to right: Max Factor Max Effects Mini Nail Polish in Candy Blue; Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in BlueberryBarry M Nail Paint in Red Wine; Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Green Berry; Liz Earle Strengthening Nail Colour in Awakening.

The Max Factor Max Effects Mini Nail Polish is one of my favourites as the colour is very deep and only requires one coat! I'm not sure why it's called Candy Blue as I always see Candy as being a pale colour and this is quite a dark blue. The one thing I will say is that I do not like how tiny the packaging is. Yes it is called a 'mini' nail polish, but they don't even do a normal sized version. It doesn't fit quite right with the rest of my collection, and it doesn't last very long either.

The next one is the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Blueberry. This is a really nice pastel blue colour, usually needs two coats for it to become opaque. A pretty shade for spring/summer and is one of my go-to nail polishes.

Next up is the Barry M Nail Paint in Red Wine. Both this and the Blueberry Gelly Polish are only available from the Superdrug website, I'm not sure why that is. This is my go-to shade when I want vampy nails. It is a lovely deep red colour and doesn't wash me out like a lot of other red shades do (I have very pale skin!). I have had this exact pot of polish since I was 16, that's 4 years! The consistency is still thick but not gloopy and it is only half empty. For this reason alone it is definitely worthy of a spot in my top 5.

The next is the gorgeous Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Green Berry. This is such a cute colour for spring/summer. A lovely pastel green shade, it gives your nails a dash of pop! I have used this shade a lot over the summer, it is definitely one of my favourites!

And last but not least is the Liz Earle Strengthening Nail Colour in Awakening. Mentioned in my previous Liz Earle Review post, it has vastly become one of my favourites as it is such a pretty pale orange shade. I'm trying to branch out on the products I use, especially attempting to try out different colours as I usually stick to what I know (reds, pinks and nudes). Orange is a very daring shade, so when I saw this one I had to try it out as it isn't too bright. It also has a slight shimmer to it, so once applied to your nails they have little flecks of shimmer on them. It also dries relatively quickly, which is something I look for in nail polish as I get impatient when painting my nails and usually end up smudging them!
The only downside to this polish is that because it's such a pale shade, it take about 3 coats before you get anywhere near a block colour.

So there you have it, my top 5 nail polishes! Hope you've enjoyed it, if so leave me a comment or question :)
