Nail Polish Haul | prettylittlewriter

I recently went on a little beauty spree, and my favourite purchases were these nail polishes!

Tanya Burr released new packaging for her beauty range and some new additions to her collection, and I picked up my two favourite colours in Fairy Godmother & Duvet Day.
I also purchased four new shades of Barry M nail paint. Speedy Quick Dry in a gorgeous pastel green colour, a pastel orange Gelly Hi Shine and two Autumnal shades.

The Tanya Burr shades are absolutely gorgeous and I am currently wearing Fairy Godmother. I absolutely love that there is a reference to Disney in her range!

I have yet to try out the Barry M colours, however I am incredibly excited for it as they all look like gorgeous shades!

What do you think of these nail shades? Have you purchased any of these items? :)

Review | Barry M Sunset Daylight Curing Nail Paint | prettylittlewriter

Many of you may already know that I am a huge fan of Barry M nail polish; their brand is the one I always go to for new shades and the one I get most excited about when they release new products.

So when they announced they were bringing out the Daylight Curing range, I couldn't wait to try out a few of the shades!

The shades I chose were For the Stars, Make me Teal and Fuchsia Generation.
What drew me to these products to begin with is that they have rose gold lids! ROSE GOLD!

I am incredibly impressed with the formula for these polishes, you only need a maximum of two coats as they are quite opaque and they seem to dry pretty quickly. What impressed me the most was that after application, there were no air bubbles underneath the polish, which is what often happens when I apply more than one coat from the Barry M brand. It stayed smooth and a really lovely, vibrant colour. The staying power of the product is also pretty brilliant, usually I end up with chips on my fingernails after a few hours of wearing the polish, however it was a couple of days before I noticed any chips, and my toenails are almost completely chip free after almost two weeks!

I would definitely recommend this new range to anyone who wants some brighter shades for summer and something that may last a little longer, it definitely competes with having professional gel nails done in a salon!

You can purchase them from the following places;

What are your favourite nail brands? And have you tried Barry M's new range?

Top 5 Tuesday | Nail Polish | prettylittlewriter

For this week's Top 5 Tuesday, I thought I'd show you my current favourite Nail Polishes.

From left to right: Max Factor Max Effects Mini Nail Polish in Candy Blue; Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in BlueberryBarry M Nail Paint in Red Wine; Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Green Berry; Liz Earle Strengthening Nail Colour in Awakening.

The Max Factor Max Effects Mini Nail Polish is one of my favourites as the colour is very deep and only requires one coat! I'm not sure why it's called Candy Blue as I always see Candy as being a pale colour and this is quite a dark blue. The one thing I will say is that I do not like how tiny the packaging is. Yes it is called a 'mini' nail polish, but they don't even do a normal sized version. It doesn't fit quite right with the rest of my collection, and it doesn't last very long either.

The next one is the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Blueberry. This is a really nice pastel blue colour, usually needs two coats for it to become opaque. A pretty shade for spring/summer and is one of my go-to nail polishes.

Next up is the Barry M Nail Paint in Red Wine. Both this and the Blueberry Gelly Polish are only available from the Superdrug website, I'm not sure why that is. This is my go-to shade when I want vampy nails. It is a lovely deep red colour and doesn't wash me out like a lot of other red shades do (I have very pale skin!). I have had this exact pot of polish since I was 16, that's 4 years! The consistency is still thick but not gloopy and it is only half empty. For this reason alone it is definitely worthy of a spot in my top 5.

The next is the gorgeous Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Green Berry. This is such a cute colour for spring/summer. A lovely pastel green shade, it gives your nails a dash of pop! I have used this shade a lot over the summer, it is definitely one of my favourites!

And last but not least is the Liz Earle Strengthening Nail Colour in Awakening. Mentioned in my previous Liz Earle Review post, it has vastly become one of my favourites as it is such a pretty pale orange shade. I'm trying to branch out on the products I use, especially attempting to try out different colours as I usually stick to what I know (reds, pinks and nudes). Orange is a very daring shade, so when I saw this one I had to try it out as it isn't too bright. It also has a slight shimmer to it, so once applied to your nails they have little flecks of shimmer on them. It also dries relatively quickly, which is something I look for in nail polish as I get impatient when painting my nails and usually end up smudging them!
The only downside to this polish is that because it's such a pale shade, it take about 3 coats before you get anywhere near a block colour.

So there you have it, my top 5 nail polishes! Hope you've enjoyed it, if so leave me a comment or question :)
