Review | Gone Girl | prettylittlewriter

So, I finished reading the novel Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn the other day, and I thought I'd give you my thoughts on it :)

Synopsis;

Who are you?
 What have we done to each other?
These are the questions Nick Dunne finds himself asking on the morning of his fifth wedding anniversary, when his wife Amy suddenly disappears. The police suspect Nick. Amy's friends reveal that she was afraid of him, that she kept secrets from him. He swears it isn't true. A police examination of his computer shows strange searches. He says they weren't made by him. And then there are the persistent calls on his mobile phone. So what really did happen to Nick's beautiful wife?

It took me a long time to get through this book, especially at the beginning as personally I found it quite boring. However, once part 1 of the novel was over and we find out the huge twist within, it gets a hell of a lot more interesting! I wasn't expecting the twist at all, which was something I liked about this book as it truly surprised me!

Throughout the entire novel, I was unsure of what to think about Nick (the main male character). I couldn't decide whether he had really murdered his wife and was in denial about it, or whether he was genuinely telling the truth. And truth be told, I was totally rooting for him towards the end to come out on top. He'd been put through hell and made to look like such a bad guy, I felt he needed something good to happen.
Therefore I was thoroughly disappointed with the ending. For those of you who have read it, let me know if you agree with me!
I felt that it wasn't nearly dramatic enough and since I was rooting for Nick to win, for him to end up being back where he was at the beginning, was very anti-climatic for me personally.

Have you read Gone Girl? If so I'd love to hear your thoughts and whether or not you agree with me! :)
