My Go-To High Street Staples for Flawless Skin | prettylittlewriter

Recently, I have had so many compliments on my skin, or more-so, my foundation, from both colleagues and customers alike during my day job.
I have been using this combination for a long time now, and whether it's the applicators that create the flawless finish, or just the products themselves, I always feel so fresh and incredibly happy with my make up.

So I thought I'd share with you all the products I use to create my make up base, and show you the results!
The first step is a combination of the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation & Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation. I use a combination of the two shades, as the Lasting Finish shade, Porcelain, is just that little bit too light for my skin tone. The Wake Me Up shade is True Ivory, which is slightly darker than my skin tone, so again, I can't use it on it's own. Yes I could have gotten two shades of the same foundation, however I had both of these in already, and I thought I'd try combining them. It's definitely worth it!
Wake Me Up gives you that gorgeous, dewy look, perfect for Spring/Summer, and Lasting Finish gives that build-able coverage to create a gorgeous finish.
I team the foundation with the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, again, in two shades. I use the shade Fair for the under-eye area, to brighten my dark circles, and Cool Medium to cover any blemishes I may have.

I then fix my base in place with the Rimmel Clear Complexion Clarifying Powder which mattifies any areas which are giving off a bit too much shine.

I also add a bit of bronzer, blusher and highlighter, however these aren't necessities, and they aren't what create that perfect, blemish free skin.

All of the products are applied with the Real Techniques Bold Metals brushes. Foundation and concealer applied with the Triangle Foundation Brush, and the Arched Powder Brush for the powder.

I am always so incredibly impressed with how it turns out, and to get compliments from other people, shows just how great these foundations are.
So if you want something that will give you flawless skin without breaking the bank, head on over to your local boots/superdrug or if you're in America, your local drugstore, and pick up these babies!!

New Mac purchases | prettylittlewriter

Over the past couple of weeks or so I've gathered a few new Mac products either via Duty Free at the Airport or ordering online after my recent student loan came through! So I thought I'd give you a little review on what I think about them.

I've purchased three new lipstick shades, Rebel, Good Kisser and Ruby Woo. Good Kisser is from the Limited Edition A Novel Romance Collection. Unfortunately most of the lipsticks are sold out online and in store, however the Duty Free Mac Stall at Manchester Airport had Good Kisser still available so I grabbed it straight away!

Rebel

Good Kisser

Ruby Woo

As you can see, each of these shades are well pigmented. Rebel being a satin finish, it adds some shine to your lips and Ruby Woo and Good Kisser are both matte shades.
Rebel is a great shade for autumn/winter, with it's dark plum colouring and Ruby Woo is deep red shade which would look lovely for autumn/winter make up.
Good Kisser is a bright pink shade which adds a bit of pop! to any look and is perhaps more of a summer shade.

One thing I will say is Ruby Woo is quite stiff when applying it to your lips; compared to the other two the application is a lot harder and it doesn't just slide on gracefully.

I think my favourite shades out of these are Good Kisser and Ruby Woo.

Moving on to eyeshadow, I purchased the shade Woodwinked.

This shade is described as a warm antiqued gold and highly pigmented. As you can see, it gives a lovely shimmer to your lids and is a bronze/gold shade.

And last but not least, I finally caved and bought the Studio Sculpt Foundation is NW20.

As you can see, the shade is a little dark for my skin tone, however, once blended into my skin it is a great colour and isn't too dark for me. I am also wearing the foundation in the above pictures of me.

So those are my most recent Mac purchases, and there's no doubt in my mind that I will be purchasing many more of their products as I absolutely love them!

Are there any Mac products that you recently purchased that you love?

Vampy Make Up Look | prettylittlewriter

For today's blog post I thought I'd show you one of the many make up looks I go for when I go to work!

Because I have to wear all black and it looks so boring, I like to brighten up my look on days when I'm feeling quite happy.

I also hate how I have to have my hair up all the time, so having my make up stand out makes me feel a lot more confident!

For my eye area, I used Benefit's Gimme Brow in Dark, Seventeen's Trio Eyeshadow in Metallic Coffee and Charlotte Tilbury's Full Fat Lashes Mascara.

For my lips I used Maybelline's Color Sensational Lipstick in Pleasure Me Red.

So that is one of the many make up looks I go for when attending work! Hope you enjoyed this post, would love to hear from you in the comments! :)

Current Beauty Staples | prettylittlewriter

For today's blog post I thought I'd show you all the every day make up I currently use!

I definitely wear more than I used to, but it still remains as a completely natural look! It also takes me a lot longer to apply than it used to, I now need around 40 minutes to complete my look, when before it was only 20 minutes!

Products:

The Seventeen trio eyeshadows gives a natural smoky eye look without being overly dramatic, and the Topshop lipstick in Charmed gives a pop of colour for lovely summer days!
As you can see my Real Techniques brushes get some serious use and could do with a wash (hehe).
The Simple Revitalising Eye Roll-On is a great wake me up for my eyes first thing in the morning. I used to sit with cucumber on my eyes for a few minutes, but I found this product and decided to give it a go. It gives pretty much the same results as the cucumber did; my eyes feel much brighter and more awake!

Haul | Boots and Superdrug | prettylittlewriter

Yesterday before I started my shift at work, I made a quick trip to Boots and Superdrug for some new beauty additions. I also popped into WH Smith for the August month Cosmopolitan and the new Company magazine featuring the lovely Ashley Benson from my favourite American TV Show, Pretty Little Liars :)

The beauty products I purchased include:
