The Ordinary Skincare | prettylittlewriter

Good morning everyone!
I hope your week has started off well, mine certainly has gotten a lot more exciting!
ASOS have recently introduced the brand The Ordinary. to their products, and oh my goodness, they look incredible!
As soon as I saw them I had to get my hands on them, and they are so affordable!
In the post today arrived two of their products that interested me the most, so let me introduce you...
Firstly, I chose the Caffeine Solution, which is a mixture of Caffeine and Green Tea extract. It is designed to reduce the appearance of eye contour pigmentation and puffiness. As I have only just received the items, I am yet to see any real, long-lasting results, however, after applying the caffeine solution to my under eyes bags, they instantly started cooling and I could feel it taking effect on the puffiness of my under eye area. My bags have been a constant battle throughout my life so far, they are so purple and puffy, and quite difficult to conceal, so I am hoping for good things!

The second product that caught my eye was the Peeling Solution. Now don't be alarmed, peeling doesn't mean your skin is going to come off, nor does it mean the serum will solidify and you'll have to peel it off! The Peeling Solution is a ten-minute exfoliating facial in bottle; with a deep rouge shade to it, it can look a little scary at first.
This is what it looks like when applied, I'm not sure how much you should use, so I just placed a few droplets on each different section of my face and tried to massage it in as evenly as possible!
I must admit, it did sting, quite a bit. But only on my cheeks, which at the moment has quite a few blemishes, so I assumed that meant it was working it's magic!

At first removal, after the 10 minutes was up, I was a little bit worried I may have had a reaction to the product, as my face was quite pink! However, after dabbing my face with cold water, that soon faded! It left me with very soft and subtle skin, and it also brought my blemishes out to the forefront. I do not think this is a bad thing in any way, I believe it is the solutions way of extracting the bad stuff in your skin, bringing it to the surface and (hopefully) getting rid of them!
You are advised on the website only to use the product twice a week, as it is quite a concentrated, acid solution. It also advises you on the packaging to wear SPF for a week after using the product if you're exposed to the sun as it can increase your skin's sensitivity and possibly cause sunburn.
Overall, I am incredibly impressed with these two products. What makes them even better is that they are tested on humans, and not animals. Any brand that is against animal testing is brilliant in my eyes!
So now, I cannot wait to see the results within the next few weeks!

My Kitty Blossom | prettylittlewriter

For today's blog post I thought I'd give you a little insight into my world; my lovely kitty Blossom! She is my pride and joy and I love her to pieces, I honestly don't know what I'd do without her! :)

She is a mixed breed, although I'm not entirely sure the exact name as we adopted her from a family friend and never found out her breed!

She is now nine years old which is approximately 56 years old in cat years!

When Blossom was a little baby :)

She often does silly things and we can find her hiding in the funniest of places...

 Like boxes...

And Primark bags!

She even lets us dress her up occasionally...

She loves to sunbathe in the summer...

She is also one of the biggest posers ever!

Especially when she's been naughty but thinks she's brought us a present!

Poor little guy :(

She also pulls the funniest faces!

Playing dead!

Yawning!

And sometimes gives the evillest looks!

So there you have it; some insight into my home life with my gorgeous kitty Blossom! I hope you liked this post, comment if you would like to see more like this :)

Review | Garnier vs Benefit Make Up Remover | prettylittlewriter

A good make up remover is hard to find. You want something that is sensitive towards your skin with zero harsh chemicals, but also something that is actually going to work on your tough waterproof mascara.

I very recently purchased the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, which boasts that the formula is great for even sensitive skin. Hypoallergenic, it removes make up whilst cleansing and soothing your skin.

I have to say, it is now one of my favourite make up removers, as it really is sensitive on your skin and leaves no oily residue. You apply the solution to your skin by dabbing a cotton pad with it and swiping the product across your face.
It even removes stubborn mascara, without you having to really rub your eyes, which is great as your eyes are a very delicate area which can be damaged if aggravated too much. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a purse-friendly make up remover; currently on offer at Boots for just £3.99, it is definitely worth it!

Before I purchased the Micellar Water however, I was using the Garnier Simply Essentials 2 in 1 Make Up remover. Before use, you have to shake the bottle to mix the solution, and then apply with a cotton pad.
I found that although this product was sensitive on the skin and removed my make up easily, it was just too oily. It left a lot of residue on my face and I had to thoroughly cleanse afterwards. As I have combination skin, something that adds extra oil to my face, I am not a fan of.
If you don't mind the oily texture, this product may be right for you, but personally I just do not like it.

Before I ventured into the high street brands for make up remover, I was using Benefit's Remove It Make Up Remover. I absolutely loved this product, very sensitive on your skin and removed make up in a flash.

Unfortunately, on a trip home from University the lid popped off and spilled a lot of the product on some of my clothes. My clothes were fine since the solution is clear and completely oil free (so it didn't stain), however it wasted an awful lot of the product :( And at £16.50 a time, it is an expensive staple.
The only bad thing I would say is that if you get the product in your eye, it can be quite painful, so be careful!

I would definitely recommend the Benefit make up remover if you don't mind the price tag, but if you are looking for something a little cheaper, I would definitely go with the Garnier Micellar Water, it really is such an easy product to remove your make up and daily build up of grime!

Thank you for reading!
